The Importance of Play!

Play is a vital part of children and young people's development. It supports all areas of development holistically whilst focusing on individual interests.

Whilst we are housebound let's spend this time exploring learning through play! Grab the sheets and make a den, or dust off your board games and challenge the family, look online at various fun family activities like escape rooms and bingo.

And before you ask, yes we have had a go at all of these in our household so far plus many more!

Not only is play important for our children, but it's important for adults too. In a time where we feel surrounded by negativity and sadness, play can ease our stress and anxiety. As the quote goes "laughter is the best medicine", and this couldn't be more true.

Access to play is so important, it's even listed on the UN Convention Rights of a Child!

Exploring ideas, problem-solving, creative thinking, developing communication and the list goes on. It's safe to say play has hugely positive impacts on our children.

So, next time your child asks you to play with them, go do it! You never know you might just enjoy yourself!
